- ECS - Our new Hudson River Valley Tradewinds Pages are shaping up right
now. So surf on back to this page often to see the frequent changes as this
page grows over the coming weeks. I have lived in Ulster County for many
years, but consider the entire Hudson River Valley to be my home. Here the
lofty mountains meet the mighty Hudson River that flows into the sea. Up
and down this majestic waterway the goods of commerce once flowed on barges,
steamboats and sloops to New York City and from there to be loaded aboard
swift sailing ships that carried the goods to the far corners of the world.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum ECS - The Hudson River Maritime Museum officially closed on October 28, 2001 for the season. However their Web site was recently updated and includes a wealth of information and links that are dedicated to the preservation of the maritime history of the Hudson River. Surf on in there and see: Steamboats of the Hudson River, The Rondout: Kingston's Historical District, Henry Hudson and the Half Moon, Mid-Hudson Valley Pre History and Archaeology and lots more.
I got involved with the Museum as a volunteer for the first time this year and it was a woderful experience. I was there for the arrival of the Nina, Christopher Columbus's flag ship. I got some great pictures of this remarkable vessel as well as most of the others that came to visit this historic port of call over this past season. The following photo montage says it all.
