The Hudson River Valley Tradewinds Pages were begun last year and as they evolve they are taking on new significance in lieu of 9/11 as a clever and inexpensive way of jumpstarting the economy again here in the beautiful Hudson River Valley. We live in this wonderful place that is unique in that we have the mighty Hudson River with its myriad of majestic scenic vistas and rich history flowing through our homeland from the Adirondack Mountains to the sea. From the west comes the Mohawk River and the Erie Canal that upon completion in 1825 ushered in commercial prosperity for New York City and the nation that led to the clipper ship era and the golden age of sail. In Ulster County the lofty Catskill Mountains meet the mighty Hudson River that flows into the sea. Up and down this majestic waterway the goods of commerce once flowed on barges, steamboats and sloops to New York City and from there to be loaded aboard swift sailing ships that carried the goods to the far corners of the world. We are all indeed fortunate to find the Hudson River in our backyard along with the Catskill and Shawangunk mountains. The views across the river from the lofty heights of the Catskills and Shawangunks are equally inviting. Dutchess County has a charm all its own. Sailing out on the river is a favorite pastime for many including us. We also treasure the people and amenities of places we encounter along the way such as the many fine restaurants, galleries, shops, museums and cultural events that take place throughout the Hudson River Valley. Those in search of adventures here have certainly come to the right place. We here at the Hudson River Valley Tradewinds Pages are dedicated from this point on to helping people find what they are looking for and are doing so in our own unique original way. So everyone can look forward to seeing these pages grow in the months to come.
