12/25/02 - ECS - We are proud to present the new model of the clipper
ship Raven that was inspired by our web site and recently
finished by master model shipbuilder Steve Priske. Surf on in to
the 1851 race between the Typhoon, the
Raven and the Sea Witch Link from The Era of the Clipper
Ships and catch the essence and excitement that went on to inspire
the building of this remarkable clipper ship model.

The plaque reads:
Clipper Raven - 1851
An extreme clipper ship, the
Raven was built for the East India trade. Launched on July
1st, 1851, she measured 158 feet in length, and weighed 711 tons.
A first class clipper, the Raven was considered a 'little
beauty' and proved to be a very fast sailer often besting such famous
clippers as the Sea Witch, Hurricane and Comet. This
museum quality scale model of the Raven was entirely scratch
built in 1/75th scale, requiring over 1.200 hours to complete. Model
is mounted on Oregon Myrtle wood.

Hi Steve,
Here are some shots of the Raven in her new berth. The first shots
show her on a cabinet behind the couch. As soon as we had some help
we moved her to her current spot, the centerpiece of the room! She
really looks beautiful.
Bill sits on the couch and gazes at her. You can almost smell the
sea air. We have already had two visitors to see her just today
and they are just amazed at how beautiful she is. You did a wonderful
job and we want you to know she has a wonderful new home and will
be treasured.
Warm regards,
Admiral Bill and Sharon Lawson

Hi Don,
I Just completed a very unusual model. it is a Hawaiian
catamaran c.500 B.C. see photo attached. this model as well as one
built like it 10 years ago, were inspired by a book published by
Herb Kane. if you have not seen his book, Voyagers, with over 100
of his paintings, you should. Herb is based on the big island of
Hawaii, and if you drop him a note at the following email address
he'll fill you in further. herbkane@kona.net
F.Y.I. the next Clipper ship about to be constructed
is going to be Clipper Comet! Chose this one as like the Raven,
it has a distinct deck plan, is an extreme clipper and has a very
colorful history. Will keep you updated with more on this as progress
proceeds.
All best, Steve.
