ECS ~ 2/21/05 ~ We launched this Web site "on spec" close to four years ago with the high hopes that things would somehow pan out for us eventually as far as making a go of things. We were all caught up in the excitement of the Internet and the World Wide Web and wanted to bring our interest in maritime history and The Era of the Clipper Ships, along with a Web wharf hub, into Cyberspace to reach the maritime world. As well as get our views of our long-lost clipper ship maritime heritage out there.

We have grown over this time and gotten more sophisticated with our wonderful Dreamweaver software and have recently given the site a major overhaul and update. We have reached a Cyberspace plateau that we can be proud of as far as our sense of Web design combined with maritime history is concerned. Perhaps now more of the world will take notice and support our efforts.

So far we have been very well received, especially by educators, teachers, librarians, and historians, and we have always been there for these people who help pass on our maritime history to future generations.

By now we are sure that you have all taken the opportunity to surf around our site and taken a look at just what we have to offer. We recently spruced the entire site up and gave it a major update and overhaul. ECS has, indeed, reached a high plateau as far as Web design and visual presentation is concerned. There is lots of interesting stuff here and we keep growing all the time as we continue to add new pages with the help of our wonderful Dreamweaver software.

If you go to Google.com and do a search on "clipper ships" this Web site come up at the top of the list, so we must be doing something right.

Many Web sites are trying to sell you something. We just want to "sell" the American people on the idea that reclaiming our long lost clipper ship maritime heritage is a noble cause worth pursuing and try to offer up practical ways to go about this. For we McKays have looked upon this sad demise of our clipper ship fleet for the longest time and we are determined to do something about it that will turn things around.

We urge you all to take a serious long, hard look upon any ocean near you and realize that an American clipper ship is not likely to appear out of the ocean mists any time soon.

After close to four years on the World Wide Web We have concluded that is more than likely that it will take an international effort to raise enough money to build an American clipper ship.

It is time to change tack again and try to get out of the horse latitudes.

A good way to support our site is to buy this book.

We are now offering up a "Special Edition" of this book with 220 black & white pictures, along with a representation of some of the color pictures that are under consideration for the 1st edition, and laid out with the same good taste and care given to visual presentation as with this Web site, and this time laid out with QuarkXPress software. See our new Minnehaha Press Web page for details.

This book sells for $50 and we will mail it anywhere. We could sure use the support of people around the world for this endeavor that will insure the success of this Web site and future efforts to reclaim our long-lost clipper ship maritime heritage.

You can print and fill out this Book Order Form and just send us a check.

There are over a million tall ship enthusiasts out there around the world so we are told and if most of them would send in an order for at least one copy of this book we could then go ahead and build an American clipper ship! Just a thought.

In the meantime, we do hope that you will find surfing around this Web site to be a most enjoyable experience as we constantly strive for higher standards, evolve, and continue on our voyage across the Cyber Sea.

Happy sails,

Don Ross
